About me

DSCF9295 - Copy

I’m a final-year theoretical physics PhD student studying decoherence in coupled spin systems at the University of St Andrews, UK. I’m a keen science communicator and enjoy engaging the public with my research. I’m a member of the Scottish Centre for Doctoral Training in Condensed Matter Physics (CM-CDT) and was until recently one of their outreach co-ordinators. When I’m not doing or explaining science I enjoy hiking, swimming, cycling and backpacking.

  1. Hi Helen. Your mum sent me the link to your blog a while ago and just looked at it. Much as it (like your research topic) defies comprehension the entry about learning new stuff is great. Keep it up. And have a good summer wherever your travels may take you. Shelagh x

  2. Hi Helen. Where did you take the idea for your 20s video on Heisenberg’s principle? The idea of the ball in a box is a nice idea and I would like to know if there is some literature on it. MX
